Collaboration & Opportunity

Co-production

Co-production is central to how EquaDem Network Plus works. By partnering equally with people who have lived experience, we ensure that research, services, and solutions are shaped by those most affected by dementia and the inequalities surrounding diagnosis and care.

Our Approach

What We Mean by Co-production

Co-production is a way of working that brings stakeholders and people with lived experience together as equal partners. It involves engaging individuals and groups from the earliest stages of development through to analysis and evaluation, valuing their knowledge, insight, and contribution throughout the process. We recognise that people living with a condition, along with their carers and communities, are uniquely placed to advise on how services and support can be improved to help people live well with dementia.

Putting Co-production into Practice

Our Co-production Activity

Collaborative Workshops

During Year 1, EquaDem organised co-production workshops across seven university sites, bringing together health and social care professionals, people living with dementia, carers, and third sector organisations.

Shared Solutions

Using a world café approach with over 130 participants, we explored potential solutions to reduce inequalities and create greater equity in dementia diagnosis and care.

Collective Insight

Barriers and solutions were mapped against the dementia inequalities model, with findings jointly synthesised by the core team and the Public Consultation Group.
