The EquaDem Network Plus is the first national collaboration focused on addressing the profound inequalities faced by people living with dementia and their unpaid carers in accessing diagnosis and support.
With more than one million people living with dementia in the United Kingdom, and numbers continuing to rise, these inequalities are becoming increasingly urgent to address.
his collaborative initiative brings together a diverse mix of experts from academia, health and social care, and the voluntary sector, alongside people living with dementia and their carers, to co-create solutions to these disparities.
The network’s focus on developing practical, evidence-based approaches is both critical and timely.
Join us for our second annual conference in Newcastle on Thursday May 7th 2026 which will bring together experts in dementia policy and practice with those with lived experience of dementia to find the best ways of reducing current inequalities. Through networking events, knowledge mobilisation internships, pilot projects, and conferences, EquaDem aims to make a tangible difference to clinical and social care practices.
Public and stakeholder involvement is at the heart of our work, ensuring that every solution is deeply informed by lived experience.
By creating a national Community of Research and Practice, EquaDem aims to influence policy, improve care delivery, and enhance the wellbeing of those affected by dementia and their caregivers.
Our recommendations inform national policy, including evidence submitted to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Dementia, ensuring that findings lead to real change.
