Build Your Research Skills with an EquaDem Internship

Who is the programme for?

Do you work in Health and Social Care, Third Sector Organisations, or Local Authority Representatives?

The EquaDem Internship Programme offers an opportunity for individuals working in health and social care, third sector organisations, or local authorities to build their research skills while contributing to work that addresses inequalities in dementia diagnosis and care. No formal research training is required, applicants simply need a strong interest in research and a desire to make a difference. Interns work alongside experienced researchers from participating higher education institutions and benefit from opportunities to attend EquaDem events and workshops. Calls for applications open periodically throughout the year, with updates shared via our mailing list.

Applications are currently closed, but you can register your interest to be notified when applications reopen later in the year.

Internship Experience

Learning Through Participation

This case study highlights the experience of taking part in the EquaDem Internship Programme from a non-academic background. Through hands-on involvement and support from experienced researchers, participants are able to build confidence, develop new skills, and contribute meaningfully to research that addresses inequalities in dementia diagnosis and care. The programme demonstrates how inclusive research opportunities can empower individuals with lived or professional experience to shape impactful outcomes, regardless of prior research training.

Collaborate with us to help make dementia diagnosis and care more equitable across the United Kingdom.
